A top virologist has said that Germany is on the brink of a second coronavirus wave, following the tripling of the R number in recent days.
There have already been several local outbreaks around the country, which have pushed the R number to 2.88, way above the recommended 1.
Experts now believe that a second wave is coming, sooner than expected. Other countries might follow suit, which might prompt the reintroduction of lockdown measures.
