Gardai have arrested a man in connection with a stabbing incident and an attempted assault in Kildare.
The incidents happened at around 5.30pm on Wednesday evening, after the suspect entered a supermarket in Kildare town and attempted to steal some items. When a security guard confronted him, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the guard, who sustained non-fatal injuries.
Gardai soon caught up with the man, who was disarmed and arrested at the scene.
