The Department of Agriculture has issued a warning to poultry farmers across the country to be on an alert fir signs of bird flu following an outbreak in England.
The warning comes after the UK environmental department set up a three kilometre protection zone around a turkey farm in Lincolnshire where at least 5,000 birds have been infected.
Meanwhile the Irish Department of Agriculture have said the H5N8 strain has been responsible for a number of outbreaks across Europe since the end of October.
