The homelessness crisis has sunk to new depths of council-induced misery.

It has emerged tonight that a woman and her three children were actually forced to sleep in an industrial unit because a credit card used by Dublin City Council homeless service had been maxed out.

It is understood the family had been living in temporary accommodation for some time, but someone broke the news to her on Tuesday had the council’s money had run out, so she was left out on the street.

She was then forced to spend the night in an industrial unit.

Due a critical shortage of emergency accommodation, it is now commonplace that homeless families are forced to arrange their own temporary abode in the form of hotels, guesthouses, etc., and then the Central Placement Service pays via credit card.

In this ocassion however, such credit card had been maxed out due to the sheer amount of people needing the service.
