Dusseldorf forced to lift face mask rule after citizen successfully challenges authorities in court

Authorities in the German city of Dusseldorf have been forced to lift an order for citizens to cover their mouth and nose with masks in shops and public spaces under penalty of a fine after a citizen successfully challenged the Orwellian measure in court.

In its ruling, the court called Düsseldorf’s order confusing because it did not provide clarity on “which conduct is required” while at the same time threatening a fine in case of non-compliance ‘The Local’ reported.

In recent months, a number of German citizens have successfully sued government authorities to lift Draconian measures ostensibly invoked to combat the Chinese virus including lifting a ban on hotel stays for domestic travellers from German districts with high prevalence of the Covid-19.

A mass demonstration in the city of Leipzig against the Draconian lockdown measures also took place on Saturday with clashes with police reported after they attempted to suppress citizen’s the right to protest.
