Firefighters had to be called in to take a huge pig out of an upstairs flat after her owner passed away.
According to the Metro, two-year-old Twiglet the pig weighed an astonishing 30 stone and lived with Elaine Edwards in her flat. Elaine received the pig as a present from her family as she had always wanted to own one as a pet.
It was clear to everyone who visited Elaine that Twiglet was a dearly loved and well looked after pet. She was given her own bed with lots of toys, was toilet trained and ate Chinese takeaways, chocolate and porridge. Unfortunately, this made Twiglet pile on the weight and she was said to have grown to be larger than a baby elephant.
After Elaine passed away, her family had to bring Twiglet out of the flat but she was afraid to come down the stairs. They had no option but to call in emergency services who then gave Twiglet a sedative and transported her down to ground level on a stretcher.
According to the Metro, Twiglet was then taken in by an Animal Rehabilitation Centre and put on a diet which has now led to her losing a stone and a half. She is also said to be gradually recovering from the sadness of losing her beloved owner and will hopefully have a bright future ahead of her.
