A popular family-run Galway business has announced it will be locking its doors in an effort to curb what it described as “rampant” antisocial behaviour in the city.
Diecast Models 4 U, a collectables store in Corbett Court in Galway city centre, made the announcement this week that it would be locking its doors during certain hours of the day following “unchecked” incidents of antisocial behaviour in the area, reports The Mirror.
The business is not shutting customers out entirely, however, adding a sign to let people know they can knock and will be let in, and that the measures are simply in place to keep everyone safe.
Diecast Models 4 U shared a statement on Facebook letting customers know about the change, reports The Mirror.
They wrote: “Good morning folks, just letting you all know due to the increase of anti-social behaviour currently rampant and unchecked in Galway City I have decided that our door will be closed for a portion of the day, and locked during certain hours.
“We will remain OPEN just knock on the door and I will let you in, and as always, there’s a cup of tae, or coffee, always here waiting for you, it’s easier keep out a certain element, than remove that element once they have gained access.
“Hopefully nobody takes offence by these measures but it’s for the safety and well-being of all involved,” reports The Mirror.
