We covered this story recently, highlighting Ruibin’s Bar & Restaurant in Galway who published their new cocktail menu called Ruibin Holy water and saw images online, including sacramental bread attached to the cocktail with a clothes peg.

There was mixed reaction to the story, with some Catholics calling the cocktail a disgrace. Others thought it was funny and some anti-Catholic comments would have made the Anti-Catholic UVF blush.

The bar in question has responded to the criticism.
According to GalwayBeo, when contacted for comment, Rúibín’s bar manager, who is Catholic, told GalwayBeo the naming of the cocktail was simply “a bit of craic”.

The bar has not yet apologised to Catholics for the associated images online of a sacramental wafer, which Catholics view as sacred.

The bar has not yet said if they will be continuing the drink or removing the sacramental wafer from the cocktail but many Catholics on social media say that they’ll definitly be avoiding the bar when they’re in the lovely western City.
