Gardaí in Dublin have begun an investigation after a man was seriously injured following an alleged assault on the Phibsborough Road earlier this week.
It is understood the investigation comes after the man sustained serious head injuries following the attack which occurred on Monday evening at approximately 7pm.
Gardaí say the man was taken to the Mater Hospital, before being transferred to the Beaumont Hospital where currently remains in critical condition.
