Gardaí who are investigating the death of man who’s dismembered limbs were found at a recycling plant in Dublin, believe the man  suffered a horrific and violent death.

Members of Gardaí are carefully searching through refuse at the Thornton’s plant in Ballyfermot in the west of the city in order to  establish if there are any further remains on site. Gardaí were alerted on Thursday when workers at the recycling centre discoverd a leg within the refuse. It is believed that another body part from the same individual has subsequently been discovered on site.

Gardaí are still awaiting the results of post mortem tests, and as of yet the exact cause of death yet unknown, but Gardaí believe that the individual was the victim of foul play.

Although it is understood that that the Gardaí are not rulling out  other potential scenarios, such as the inappropriate disposal of medical amputations or the possibility someone was unwittingly picked up by a refuse collection vehicle and crushed.

The victims identity is understood to be not yet known. The recycling centre on Killeen Road has been closed down to allow the searches and related forensic exams to continue unhindered.
