Gardai have launched an investigation after a young woman died following an assault in an Irish county.
The incident happened in Tullamore, Co Offaly, earlier today.
It is understood that a woman in her 20s was the victim of a serious assault in the canal bank towpath at Cappincur.
A man in his 40s has been arrested in connection with this incident.
