Gardaí have confirmed the name of the victim who was brutally shot in Blackpool, Cork yesterday evening.
The victim has been named as Aidan O’Driscoll – also known as ‘The Beast’ who had connections with the dissident IRA .
Mr O’Driscoll was well known to Gardai and was sentenced to three years in prison for membership of an illegal organisation styling itself Oglaigh na hEireann, otherwise the Irish Republican Army.
Mr O’Driscoll was also the victim of a punishment shooting by dissident republicans back in 2013.
