Three major children’s hospitals ask parents to avoid attending unless absolutely necessary

Management at three of the biggest children’s hospitals in Dublin have appealed to the public not to attend their facilities, unless it is absolutely necessary to attend.

The call comes after management at Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street and the National Children’s Hospital revealed they currently operating at maximum capacity in their Emergency Department’s, whilst attendances and admissions to inpatient beds has also significantly in the last month.

The Hospitals have also warned of a major increase in the number of young children and infants presenting with respiratory/chest infections.

Management say any concerned parents should go to their GP or out-of-hours GP service before attending the hospital.
