A German national has been questioned in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The man, believed to be 43 years of age, is currently serving a prison sentence in Germany for an unrelated matter.
He is understood to have been living in a camper van in the Praia da Luz area of Portugal around the time of Madeleine’s disappearance on May 3, 2007.
Authorities have not revealed the rationale for the arrest, but they said the suspect did receive a 30-minute long phone call shortly before the then 3-year-old Madeleine vanished. This man is believed to have come to the attention of investigators in the Madeleine McCann case before.
