It was one of the most awkward moments on Irish television in years.
Moderator Pat Kenny asked both Leo Varadkar and Micheal Martin whether they had taken drugs in the past.
Without any hesitation, Martin said that he had never taken any illegal drugs.
But stuttering and awkward looking, Varadkar told Pat Kenny that he had answered that question in a ‘Hot Press’ interview. To which both Martin and Pat Kenny pushed him to answer.
After what seemed like 10 minutes of silence and awkwardly staring at Pat Kenny, Varadkar eventually said that he himself did take illegal drugs at one point.
