

Friends has raised thousands of euros for the family of this teenager, after he died last night from an alleged attack with a knife.
Marius Mamaliga’s GoFundMe page had once again raised more than €8,500 for the Dublin family, two days after a man appeared in court accused of seriously assaulting him.
Brandon Gavin, 20, was charged with assault under section four of the Non-Fatal Offenses Act against Mr Mamaliga, 19, in Swords, Co Dublin on Thursday.
Mr. Mamaliga lost his fight for life last night, Gardai confirmed last night.
A spokesperson said: “The 19-year-old male, who was seriously assaulted on Brookdale Avenue, Swords, Thursday 23rd February 2023 was pronounced deceased at Beaumont Hospital this afternoon, Sunday 26th February 2023,” reports The Mirror.
Mr Gavin appeared in court overnight and Brian Smyth was told by Garda detective Conor Tumbleton in court that Mr Mamaliga had been stabbed around his neck.
Detective Garda Tumbleton said he cut an artery as a result of the alleged attack.
He added: “medical staff were unsure if he would survive and if he does so, probably will have severe brain damage”, reports The Mirror.
Marius’s lifelong friend, Matthew Czujek, creates a special GoFundme page to help his family, love.
“I want to help the family as much as possible,” he told The Star/Mirror.
Mr Gavin of Brookdale Road, Rivervalley, Swords has been remanded with the consent of a €51,000 fiance who will require a €25,000 filing and will appear in Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday.
Detective Garda Tumbleton told the court that the defendant made “no reply” when he was charged at 12:25 pm on Friday at Swords Garda station.
An hour and 10 minutes after the alleged incident, he presented himself to the Gardai, reports The Mirror.
The court heard that Gavin told Gardai under “he came at me, I defended myself, I stabbed him”, reports The Mirror.
