The Government have announced that CCTV cameras will be placed in rural areas as part of a new plan to crime rural areas.
It is understood the new project will receive an initial €50,000 in funding which was approved by the Minister for the Environment, Alan Kelly recently. Under the new proposals the new cameras will be located in strategic positions in rural locations, with the aim of increasing public safety and deterring criminal and anti-social behaviour.
It is then believed the images from the cameras will be reviewed by Gardaí to determine if a crime has taken place.
