The Minister for Health Simon Harris said that the Covid-19 reproductive rate has increased slightly in recent days but the virus still remains suppressed.
Speaking in the Dail, Harris revealed that the reproductive rate has increased to between 0.4 and 0.7 in recent days.
It is understood that so R number increased from the stable rate of 0.5 to 0.6 which was reported a couple of weeks ago.
However despite the slight increase Harris said that the virus effectively remains suppressed as it is significantly below the rate of 1.0.
