It eclipsed the opening day of the Euro 2020 competition, but nevertheless, it’s still what people are talking about more than 24 hours on.

Danish player Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch last night in Copenhagen playing against Finland.

Today, the Danish team’s doctor gave a press conference depicting what happened and declaring that the 29-yr-old was “gone”, essentially he was dead without the medical intervention he received.

“He was gone. We did cardiac resuscitation, it was a cardiac arrest.

“How close were we to losing him? I don’t know, but we got him back after one defib, so that’s quite fast.”

Dr Boesen said: “We don’t have any explanation why it happened. The details about what happened I am not quite sure of because I am not a cardiologist, I will leave that to the experts. I didn’t see it live, only on screens afterwards.”

It’s understood that Eriksen is recovering well in hospital with his family by his bedside.
