Health Minister Harris appears to tweet bitchy jab at President Trump over his move to hold the WHO accountable

Minister for Health Simon Harris has taken to the keyboard to launch a thinly veiled jab at US President Donald Trump over his halting American taxpayer dollars to the World Health Organisation in the light of the fiasco that was their response to the initial outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

Harris tweeted:

“Ireland is a proud member of @WHO. Now more than ever the world needs it & needs multilateralism. Imagine the pressure those in @WHO are working under & imagine the kick in the gut they feel when they face pathetic, silly political attacks. Thank you @WHO for all you do #Covid19”

The US President has halted American funding for the organisation until a full investigation is carried out to determine why the WHO backed Chinese government lies that the Covid-19 virus was not being transmitted from human to human and opposed quarantining of the country.

Members of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar’s government are known for catty behaviour in general and towards the Trump administration in particular with Tánaiste Simon Coveney announcing a somewhat flaccid, virtue signal that Ireland would quadruple its WHO contribution after President Trump’s move.
