Exceptionally heavy snowfall has prompted the closure of over 1,000 schools across the UK.
The adverse weather has also caused significant disruption to air and land travel, as hundreds of flights have either been cancelled or delayed.
The temperature fell to -15C in the Scottish Highlands last night, and the outlook is for deep cold to continue for another few days.
