There is a high prevalence of alcohol-related casualties among Russian soldiers sent to the frontlines with no training or equipment, according to reports.

A probe has revealed that a very high percentage of the 200,000 or so people that have perished during the invasion of Ukraine did so following alcohol consumption..

Heavy drinking in Russian society is a tacitly admitted consequence of the repressive, totalitarian regime, and many soldiers turn up for duty drunk, something that’s accepted as ‘part of the military life.’ These drunkards consume a significant amount of the old vodka and then stumble off to handle heavy armament, with predictable consequences for those involved.
