Holidaymakers heading to Portugal over the next few days are being warned of intense heat, reaching 43C at times.
Such high temperatures have prompted the local government to issue an alert, which will remain in place for at least a week.
The country is also experiencing a long drought, which poses a great risk of wildfires.
