The number of people falling into homelessness across the country continues to rise, despite a Government pledge three years ago to end it completely.
A total of 5,400 people were listed as homeless by the end of 2015.
Today marks three years exactly to the day when the Government committed to eliminate the scourge of homelessness, but apart from some cursory efforts, nothing effective has been done.
The homelessness crisis in Ireland is generally getting worse, due to an increase in rents and lack of matching rise in rent supplement, home repossessions by banks, and a complete disinterest in the Government’s part to do anything about it.
