“How dare him” – Angers after O’Gorman says ‘Transgender issues should be part of primary curriculum’

People are absolutely outraged online following Minister Roderic O’Gorman’s latest comments.

According to Children’s Minister Roderic O’Gorman, elementary school students ought to be taught about what it means to identify as transgender.

The Irish Independent was informed by the Green Party minister that elementary school students had to have a basic “understanding” of diversity, reports Independent.

When asked if more should be taught in schools about what it means to be transgender, the minister responded, “Absolutely,” adding that curriculum has to be improved to make sure students “are getting an understanding of diversity.”

When questioned if this also extended to students in primary and secondary schools, he said: “I think it’s important that primary school children as well have an understanding of the diversity of our society,” reports Independent.

His agency is developing regulations on whether or not minors under the age of 16 should be allowed to declare their gender identification in collaboration with the agency of Social Protection.

In his words, Mr. O’Gorman thinks that this will provide a “clear pathway” on the legality of under-16s self-declaring their gender identity, reports Independent.
