Howlin: “The current Fine Gael led minority government will not last as it is “intrinsically unstable”

The newly appointed leader of the Labour Party, Brendan Howlin, has claimed the newly formed Government will not last and expects Fine Gael’s reign to be over within the next year.

Mr Howlin told reporters earlier today that the current Fine Gael-led minority government is “intrinsically unstable”. Mr Howlin who is highly optimistic about his party’s future also claimed that there is a sign of underlying instability within the Dail at this present moment, before stating: “This current arrangement may not survive months, and certainly not more than a year, in my judgement.”

“It is intrinsically unstable, any significant issue that might be faced by it will knock it over, because it doesn’t have the capacity to command either the support of the country or the support of the Dáil.”
