The HSE have confirmed that an additional 35 beds will be opened at University Hospital Galway in a bid to deal with severe overcrowding.
The move comes after members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) have come to an agreement with hospital management to have more nurses on duty in the facility’s A&E department.
Meanwhile it also has been confirmed that new beds will be opened in the Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinalsoe and Merlin Park Regional Hospitals. The news comes as there were reports that 27 people were on trolleys today at University Hospital Galway.
