Inquiry after US police shoot man dead for holding plastic fork

The US police have made public body-camera video of an incident in which they shot and killed a man who was carrying a plastic fork, reports RTE.

According to officials, one of the cops engaged in the shooting on February 3 at a Los Angeles warehouse is being investigated to see if they followed the guidelines for the use of deadly force.

Jason Lee Maccani, 36, has been identified as the guy who was shot.

In the video that was made public, a guy is accosted by six police officers in a building’s hallway, reports RTE.

The man first appears to cooperate when they order him to approach them with his arms raised.

However, he doesn’t stop moving and continues to walk while clutching what the cops claimed to be a screwdriver in his fists.

Police stated in a statement that they attempted, but were unable, to subdue him.

Shots can be heard in the footage as the individual is seen approaching the cops.

“The suspect grabbed one of the officers and the Beanbag Shotgun she was holding, resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting,” it said, reports RTE.
