
Workers for Liberty Insurance were today informed that 270 jobs will be lost in the company over the next 18 months.
It is believed that the company are letting staff go as a result ofĀ pulling out of the UK motor insurance market where it was making a loss.
The US company employs 1,000 staff in Dublin, Cavan and Fermanagh.
Liberty Insurance expect the redundancies to be voluntary and will lead to 135 redundancies in Blanchardstown, 115 in Co Cavan and 20 in Enniskillen.
In a statement this morning, the company says that they have have decided to withdraw from theĀ UK personal general insurance market because of āheavy lossesā.
The UK market had been serviced in Ireland.
Liberty Insurance bought the old Quinn Insurance business four years ago.
The company have previously announced job losses with 285 staff let go across various offices in late 2012.
