Ireland is now certain to avoid the worst effects of Storm Miguel, despite previous reports to the contrary.
The weather system is set to hit the UK head on just ahead of the coming weekend, bringing gale force winds and torrential rains to the majority of central and southern Britain.
It had been reported that Storm Miguel would continue moving towards Ireland, but Met Eireann are now saying that the system will merely just brush against Ireland’s east coast on Friday.
The weather is expected to remain rather unsettled in Ireland over the weekend, but the national forecaster expects no severe events.
