The issue of bonuses, whether they are for bankers, politicians (in the form of expenses), or Irish Water staff, is sure to raise a few eyebrows.
It is the turn now of Irish Water workers to claim what they say they are entitled to, that is, the bonuses they were promised when they signed up.
However, staff were told that they would not receive any extra payments for 2013-14 after all, and in fact a review of the entire salary structure was to be conducted.
People working for the much hated utility did not take these news lying down, however, and thus, the Labour Relations Committee are mediating in talks between the company and unions over the thorny issue of are they, or aren’t they getting them.
The row continues.
