IT experts believe there was a ‘huge possibility’ of Oasis tickets being bought by bots

IT specialists said there is a “huge possibility” that several computer bots are buying Oasis tickets all at once, reports Breaking News.

Using automated software, ticket resellers frequently purchase more tickets for events than they are permitted to, then resell them at a higher price.

Fans of Oasis also said that while attempting to schedule gigs on Saturday, they encountered online outages, reports Breaking News.

Software security company Eset’s worldwide cybersecurity consultant, Jake Moore, claimed that certain organisations are capable of manipulating ticket websites with the appropriate tools and expertise, including using bots to “swoop in and purchase high numbers of tickets at once.”

“Given the upcoming concert series and the demand for Taylor Swift tickets, I would suggest there would be a huge possibility of bots being used to swoop in,” he told the PA news agency, reports Breaking News.

Many claimed on social media that they had been banned from the Ticketmaster website because it was thought they were automated programs.

Mr. Moore declared: “Bots employ commercial software, such a VPN, to imitate human behaviour and even change their location,” reports Breaking News.

Website malfunctions were “bound” to occur as a result of the Oasis reunion’s unavoidable popularity, according to industry expert Adam Leon Smith of BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.

According to Ticketmaster, the website has not crashed.

A spokeswoman for Ticketmaster said: “The queue is moving along as fans buy tickets. As anticipated, millions of fans are accessing our site so have been placed in a queue. Fans are advised to hold their place in line, make sure they’re only using one tab, clear cookies, and ensure they aren’t using any VPN software on their device,” reports Breaking News.
