The credit card as we know could very well be a thing of the past if Visa have their way because the world-renowned credit/debit card company have made something rather special in the shape of a NFC-enabled ring that is able to make contactless payments.
The rather remarkable piece of technology come as the company are said to be exploring ways to make it as quick and easy as possible to make a payment, without the need to pull our your credit card or phone.
However the amazing new ring which works by tapping your finger near any Visa pay terminal, will not be made available to the general public just yet as the company claim it is only a prototype to show what wireless payments can do.
Although there will be some lucky recipients of the fancy new tech as visa confirmed 45 athletes heading to the Rio 2016 Olympics will be given the ring as part of their sponsorship at the games. The company also say they are regularly looking at alternatives to make the whole shopping experience easier and believe similar items such as watches and other forms of jewellery can be adapted to include contactless payments.
