Justice Minister Helen McEntee says she is appalled by scenes at Dublin protest

The Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has said that she is appalled by the scenes that unfolded at protests in Dublin over the weekend.

Speaking to RTE’s This Week programme, McEntee also warned that there would be consequences for those who are thinking about carrying out such behaviour again.

McEntee told the programme that there were a vast majority of people at the gathering intent on causing disruption.

The Justice Minister did however plead with people to stick to public health guidelines even though they are frustrated by the current Level 5 restrictions.

McEntee said that the current measures are being put in place in order to keep people safe.

She added that the professionalism and calmness of the Gardai during their handling of the situation must be commended.
