Landlord gets charged in the first ever “Sex for Rent” criminal case

Concerns are raised in Ireland that this brutality could be happening here too. We have often heard anecdotal evidence that some unscrupulous landlords prey on their impoverished tenants but this time a landlord has been charged and will face trial for “Sex for Rent” allegations.

It is believed to be the first case in the UK of its kind, according to the Metro.

The Metro reports that the landlord is named as Christoper Cox, a 52 year old who allegedly asked his female tenants to provide sexual services and photos of themselves wearing bikinis in exchange for accommodation.

Cox is facing two counts of inciting prostitution for gain and one charge for controlling prostitution for gain between May 2018 and November 2018.

Cox allegedly wanted his potential tenants to agree to being tied up and perform bondage acts with him claimed the Prosecution.

He allegedly posted advert on Craigslist offering a free room to vulnerable or homeless young women at his home in Surrey.

He remains on bail until March 25th.
