Landslide and avalanche warnings get issued in Norway as country battles extreme weather

As severe weather continued to batter the Scandinavian nation on Friday, authorities in Norway issued multiple warnings for avalanches and landslides in the country’s south.

Roads in the country’s north may close unexpectedly, according to officials.

Following 200 passengers were forced to spend the night at the airport due to Norway’s strongest storm since 1992, flights to and from the airport in the Arctic city of Tromso were resumed on Friday.

Strong winds were continuing blowing over northern Norway, according to the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, which also issued a warning that rain, up to 100 mm (four inches), was forecast in the southern portion of the country in the next 24 hours.
