Latest opinion poll reveals sharp rise in support for Fine Gael

opinion poll

Somewhat surprising results on the opinion polls tonight, as support for Fine Gael has risen 5 points and now stands at 24pc. This is a marked improvement from last December’s results, where support for Enda Kenny’s party sank to a 12-year low.

Support for Sinn Fein has also gone up, to 24pc to be precise, despite recent sex abuse allegations. The party has gained 2 points since the last poll.

Labour still brings up the rear, having gained a meager one point rise in support. However, party leader Joan Burton has soared in popularity herself, having scored a six points rise. This result consolidates her position as most popular party leader.

Support for Independents and smaller parties still stands at 28pc.

Finally, Fianna Fail has come out worst, as the party has lost 4 points since December. Party leader Micheal Martin has seen a slight decrease in popularity.
