It’s understood that the government is preparing legislation that would stop employers in the service industry from paying workers’ wages using tips.
The legislation would also require businesses to display their policies on tipping rather than just including a service charge.
It’s been brought forward after a number of businesses were criticised for not allowing their staff to take home tips that they had earned during their work shift.
