Living with Covid-19: Rollout of vaccines across the world is not guaranteed to control the virus, experts say

For the past year, the world has been told to wash our hands, stay home, keep your distance, wear masks, work from home, don’t meet friends or family, close your business, don’t travel, don’t socialise in pubs or restaurants, wear double masks, get vaccinated. But all of this has been in vain.

In a Lancet report published by the Guardian it has been stated that the global rollout of vaccines is no linger a guarantee of victory over the Coronavirus. New variants have emerged and spread worldwide, putting current pandemic control efforts, including vaccination, at risk of being derailed. A successful global rollout of current vaccines by itself is no longer a guarantee of victory says the Guardian who go on to say;

“Prompt vaccine rollouts alone will not be enough to achieve this (maximum suppression of viral infection rates). Continued public health measures, such as face masks and physical distancing, will be vital too. Ventilation of indoor spaces is important – some of which is under people’s control, some of which will require adjustments to buildings.
