Gardai say that there was a high level of compliance with the public over the bank holiday weekend with the new lockdown legislation that was enacted giving gardai new powers during the coronavirus outbreak.
It’s understood that gardai used the new powers some 240 times since April 8th and that there were 71 instances of gardai being coughed on or spat at.
Thankfully things are looking good for Ireland to enter phase 2 on June 8th.
