The world embraced the story of the disappearance of little Madeleine McCann on this day in 2007.
Authorities have not revealed exactly what they think happened but they do have a German suspect named Christian B. They said the suspect did receive a 30-minute long phone call shortly before the then 3-year-old Madeleine vanished.
It’s understood that Christian B is believed to have come to the attention of investigators in the Madeleine McCann case before he was officially named as a suspect.
Madeleine went missing in the tourist resort of Praia da Luz in May 2007, when she was just three years old.
The British Home Office has spent in the region of £12m on the operation which began back in 2011.
