Gardaí in Co Louth have arrested a man and a woman following the seizure of a sub machine gun and 35 rounds of amunition in Drogheda.
The arrests come after the weapon was discovered at a house in Boyle O’Reilly Terrace in the town on Wednesday afternoon.
It is believed Gardai discovered the weapon during a follow up search after the woman stopped at approximately 3pm in the Crushrod Avenue area of the town.
The woman aged in her 30s, was found to have large quantity of prescription drugs in her possession.
Gardai say a man aged in his 40s was arrested in Dundalk in cinn with the incident.
