
Gardaí have confirmed that a man who was arrested in connection with an assault in Navan, Co Meath, has been released without charge.
It is understood that the 22-year-old man was questioned by Gardai after another man was seriously injured following an alleged assault in the town on Saturday morning.
The man who is in critical condition in Beaumont Hospital was found lying on Watergate Street in Navan.
Gardaí say the arrested man has since been released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
