Gardaí in Kilkenny are currently questioning a man in connection with an assault which occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning.
It is understood that a man aged in his 40s was seriously injured following the incident which occurred at house on High Hayes Terrace, at approximately 4am.
The man who sustained head injuries during the attack currently remains in intensive care at St Luke’s Hospital
Gardaí say a woman who was also arrested in connection with the incident had been released from custody.
They added that an investigation is currently ongoing.
