Mary Robinson wants to increase climate action which will inevitably cost people a lot more money through tax

According to Mary Robinson, the former president of Ireland, more work has to be done to put its climate plans into action, reports RTE.

Speaking at the DCU Centre for Climate and Society’s annual conference, Ms Robinson said: “Ireland, to its credit, has good climate policies, but Ireland’s not implementing…I’m struck by the fact that we’re on track for a 29% reduction, rather than a 50% reduction by 2030 so it’s not good. I mean, as I said, we’re a country that benefited from fossil fuel. We have that responsibility, we should be doing far more real tangible stuff at every level. In every capacity to local level, regional level at national level,” reports RTE.

Ms. Robinson talked about the new initiative she co-founded, Project Dandelion, during her keynote address.

She identified it as a female-led campaign aimed at addressing climate change, and mentioned that the dandelion was selected as the emblem due to its “global reach” and “strong resilience.”

Áine Dempsey, a founding member of Fridays for Future Ireland, questioned Ms. Robinson on exhaustion and carrying on the battle for climate change, reports RTE.
