Daniel Haslam was diagnosed with optical atrophy which will led to eventual blindness during the next six years.
This means Daniel’s optic nerve is dying and will eventually cause the little boy to go blind.
His mother noticed that he went from being able to watch television from the couch to standing eight inches from the screen, within six months.
The eight year old is austistic and also suffers from hearing loss.
His family moved to Ratoath in Co Meath from Dublin and this is where the family travel from
Daniel has a length bucket list to complete before he goes blind such as Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids and Big Ben.
His local community have vowed to help Daniel to complete his bucket list.
Carol Haslam, Daniel’s mother stated:
“I’ve told him we’ll bring him on as many adventures to as many places as we can and asked him where he’d like to see. The support we’ve been receiving has been unbelievable and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone.”
