According to weather forecasters this weekend is set to be a wet one. Met Éireann has issued a status Orange rainfall warning for Leinster, with heavy and persistent rain expected to start late on Friday and continue into Saturday and possibly Sunday.
Most of the heavy rain is expected to be in the east of the province. A spokesperson for Met Éireann has said: “Rainfall amounts of 40 to 70 mm over 24 hours are likely,”.
The bad weather coincides with the traditional weekend get away over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The country’s roads are expected to be busy, with the Road Safety Authority warning motorists to take care.
