Met Eireann issues urgent Status Orange weather warning for low temperatures and ice affecting 19 counties

Met Eireann has issued an urgent Status Orange weather warning for low temperatures and ice affecting 19 counties.

The warning, which covers counties Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Leitrim, and Roscommon, will be in place from 6pm on Wednesday until noon the following day.

According to the national forecaster, temperatures will fall to -5C and lower in some places overnight.
