Detective Garda John Delaney informed the court that Mr Rostas offered no response when the charge was read to him at Balbriggan Garda Station at 1.12am, reports RTE.
The court was informed that bail would be opposed, though that issue was not addressed during today’s hearing.
Sandra Freyne, acting as Daniel Rostas’ solicitor, stated she would retain the right to seek bail at another time. The accused was ordered to remain in custody and is scheduled to reappear before Cloverhill District Court via videolink on 3 July, reports RTE.
It was mentioned in court that Mr Rostas would require the help of a Romanian interpreter.
The case was adjourned pending directions from the DPP, and his solicitor requested Judge Michele Finan to ensure he receives appropriate medical care, reports RTE.
