Minister for Health reveals that Ireland will get 35,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine next week




 

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that 35,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine is expected to arrive in Ireland next week.

Speaking to RTE’s Morning Ireland programme the Health Minister said that the company will deliver three shipments in the first quarter of 2021.

Donnelly said that a total of 1.1m vaccine doses should arrive from three approved manufacturers by the end of March.

He added that the main goal for the coming weeks ahead is to administer second doses to frontline healthcare workers and longterm residents at care homes.

It is also expected that the first dose of the vaccine will be given to a second group of healthcare workers and then the over 85s.
